IL SB1612

Adds a new guardianship training program developed by the State Guardian outlining the duties and responsibilities of guardians under the Probate Act, to be offered to courts at no cost.

Requires proposed guardians to complete the training program prior to appointment as a limited or plenary guardian, with exemptions for public guardians, state guardians, attorneys, and National Certified Guardians.

Allows courts to make guardianship appointments conditional on the proposed guardian's completion of the training program.

Authorizes courts to require existing guardians to complete the training program as part of guardianship review proceedings.

Takes effect one year after becoming law.
