IL SB1676

Establishes procedures for filling nomination vacancies occurring more than 90 days before general election certification through a special primary election set by the State Board of Elections at least 30 days before certification.

Allows vacancies occurring less than 91 days but more than 15 days before the general election to be filled by political party nominating committee resolution only if caused by the nominee's death or illness, and must be filled within 8 days.

Adds inability to fulfill office duties due to illness as an event creating a nomination vacancy, in addition to existing reasons of death or declining the nomination.

Requires vacancy-filling resolutions to be sent to the certifying officer within 3 days and include information on the original nominee, vacancy date, and selected replacement's name and address.

Prohibits filling vacancies occurring 15 days or less before the election, with the original candidate's certification remaining valid.
