SB1752 Summary

• Amends the Unemployment Insurance Act to classify vacation pay, vacation pay allowance, pay in lieu of vacation, and standby pay made pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement as "wages" for unemployment insurance purposes.

• Expands Section 610 to cover vacation payments made under collective bargaining agreements during announced shutdown periods, in addition to payments made directly by employers during shutdowns.

• Adds severance pay and payments in lieu of wages as "disqualifying income" under Section 611, with employers able to waive this classification in writing.

• Provides that lump-sum severance or payment-in-lieu-of-wages payments are attributed at one-fifth of the individual's weekly benefit amount per work day following separation until exhausted.

• Removes outdated language from Section 611 regarding governmental or other pension payments that applied only to weeks beginning after March 31, 1980.
