IL SB1782

Amends the One Day Rest In Seven Act (820 ILCS 140/3) to make a technical change to Section 3 concerning meal periods for employees.

Requires employers to permit employees working 7.5 continuous hours or longer to take at least 20 minutes for a meal period beginning no later than 5 hours after the start of the work period.

Exempts employees covered by collective bargaining agreements from the meal period requirements.

Exempts employees who monitor individuals with developmental disabilities or mental illness and must remain on call during an 8-hour work period, but allows these employees to eat meals while continuing their monitoring duties.
