IL SB1818

Allows local units of government and school districts to enter into intergovernmental agreements with their county or municipality to file nomination petitions with the county clerk or municipal clerk instead of the local election official during all or part of the filing period.

Applies the same intergovernmental agreement provision to objector's petitions, allowing them to be filed with the county clerk or municipal clerk rather than exclusively with the local election official.

Adds new subsection (13) to Section 7-12 of the Election Code establishing the authority for units of local government or school districts to execute these intergovernmental agreements.

Modifies Section 10-8 of the Election Code to include parallel language allowing objector's petitions to be filed through intergovernmental agreements with county or municipal clerks.
