Persons subject to blood tests under DUI statutes are liable for expenses up to $500 for blood withdrawal performed by authorized medical professionals or qualified personnel approved by the Department of State Police.

Blood test expense liability applies to persons found guilty of violating Section 11-501 (DUI) or persons who plead guilty to Section 11-503 (related offense) when originally charged with DUI under a plea agreement.

Blood test reimbursement requirement applies regardless of whether the person consents to testing, if the test was requested due to breath test refusal or probable cause to believe drugs or intoxicating compounds were ingested.

The bill amends existing Illinois Vehicle Code Section 11-501.01 to add subsection (j) establishing the blood test expense liability provisions.
