SB1850 Summary

• Allows multiple suspensions and revocations to exist simultaneously on a driver's license, with no revocation or suspension negating or invalidating any other.

• Establishes graduated penalties for driving with a suspended or revoked license based on the underlying offense, ranging from Class A misdemeanor to Class 1 felony depending on violation type and number of prior offenses.

• Imposes mandatory minimum sentences including 30 days imprisonment or 300 hours community service for violations when the original suspension resulted from DUI, hit-and-run, or reckless homicide offenses.

• Provides enhanced penalties when any prior revocation or suspension was for reckless homicide (Section 9-3), including mandatory imprisonment terms and lifetime driving privilege revocation for third violations.

• Requires vehicle seizure and forfeiture for violations involving suspensions/revocations based on DUI, hit-and-run, summary suspension, or reckless homicide offenses.
