IL SB1852

Amends Section 107-4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure to expand the authority of Illinois peace officers to conduct arrests and temporary questioning outside their primary jurisdiction under four specific circumstances.

Allows peace officers to arrest anywhere in Illinois when investigating criminal activity that occurred in their primary jurisdiction, if the arrest relates to that investigation.

Permits officers to arrest anywhere in Illinois when they become personally aware of a felony or misdemeanor being committed while on duty, or when requested by another law enforcement agency to render aid or assistance.

Requires law enforcement agencies in the county or municipality where an arrest is made under these provisions to be immediately notified of the arrest.

Maintains existing provisions allowing out-of-state peace officers in fresh pursuit to make arrests in Illinois with the same authority as Illinois officers.
