IL SB1890

Amends the Governor Succession Act (15 ILCS 5/1) to make a technical change to the line of succession for the office of Governor.

Establishes the order of succession when the Governor cannot exercise powers and duties: Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer, President of the Senate, and Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Successor serves as Governor for the remainder of the term if the Governor dies, is convicted on impeachment, or resigns.

Successor designated as Acting Governor serves temporarily if the Governor has a temporary disability or fails to qualify, continuing until the Governor qualifies or disability is removed.

If an officer in the line of succession is unqualified or vacant, the next qualified officer in succession becomes Governor.
