IL SB1933

Creates the School Security Enhancement Matching Grant Program under the State Board of Education to award grants to school districts for physical security improvements in school buildings.

Establishes a 75-25 cost-sharing structure where state grants cover 75% of enhancement costs and school districts must provide the remaining 25% of funding.

Creates the School Security Enhancement Matching Fund as a special state treasury fund to receive appropriations for the grant program, with all money to be used by the State Board of Education for the program.

Authorizes eligible security enhancements including structural changes, windows, doors, video surveillance, magnetometers, alarm systems, sound warning systems, communications equipment, and other security equipment deemed necessary by school boards.

Requires the State Treasurer and State Comptroller to transfer $4.2 million monthly from the Capital Projects Fund to the School Security Enhancement Matching Fund after other required bond transfers are made.
