Beginning with the 2016 registration year, vehicle registration applications must include insurance policy information: insurer name, policy number, and expiration date, or registration will be denied.

Persons who knowingly submit false insurance information on registration applications are guilty of a Class C misdemeanor beginning with the 2016 registration year.

Law enforcement officers, fire investigators, state's attorneys, and judicial officers may use their work address instead of their home address on vehicle registration applications, and their spouses and children may do the same if they reside with them.

Remittance agents processing vehicle registration applications must request and submit applicants' insurance information to the Secretary of State, with failure to do so resulting in suspension or revocation of their license.
