IL SB1981

Amends the Board of Higher Education Act by making a technical change to Section 2 concerning the creation of the Board.

Removes duplicate language by deleting one instance of "the" in the provision describing the 10 members appointed by the Governor with Senate advice and consent.

Board of Higher Education consists of 16 members including 10 gubernatorial appointees (with Senate confirmation), one public university board member, one private college board member, the chairman of the Illinois Community College Board, the chairman of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, and 2 student members.

Requires that one of the 10 gubernatorial appointees be a faculty member at an Illinois public university as of July 1, 2005.

No more than 7 of the Governor-appointed members (excluding the Chairman) shall be affiliated with the same political party.
