IL SB2142

Creates the Health Care Billing Practices Act to establish proportional billing requirements for minor children's medical treatment between parents.

Requires health care providers to proportionally bill each parent for uninsured amounts exceeding $50 if either parent provides a certified court order requiring proportional payment of health care expenses.

Makes the parent taking a child to the health care provider responsible for providing the provider with the most current court order detailing payment proportions between custodial and non-custodial parents.

Limits the Act's application to billing practices only and preserves health care providers' ability to collect unpaid medical expenses through other means.

Becomes effective immediately upon enactment.
