IL SB2190

Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act to prohibit counties, including home rule counties, from regulating firearms or imposing restrictions greater than state law on acquisition, possession, transportation, carrying, and transfer of firearms, attachments, and ammunition.

Voids all existing county ordinances and resolutions enacted on or after the effective date that impose restrictions on firearm ownership or possession beyond those required by state law or Article 24 of the Criminal Code of 2012.

Designates the preemption of county firearm regulations as a limitation on home rule powers under the Illinois Constitution.

Leaves existing municipal ordinances regulating firearms unchanged, maintaining their validity under prior law.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
