IL SB2207

Amends Section 367f of the Illinois Insurance Code concerning firemen's group insurance coverage during retirement or disability periods.

Allows disabled or retired firefighters not enrolled in municipal group insurance at the time of disability or retirement to elect enrollment during open enrollment periods, but not after becoming eligible for federal Medicare coverage and only once.

Requires firefighters to be insurable and pay the full cost of insurance premiums at standard rates to enroll or reenroll in the municipal group insurance plan.

Applies to group accident and health insurance policies issued to municipalities covering firefighters, as well as self-insured benefit programs, health maintenance organizations, and other benefit arrangements.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
