IL SB2236

Creates the Veterinary Medical Practice Ownership Act allowing licensed veterinarians and unlicensed persons or entities to form veterinary practices in any legal business structure (corporation, LLC, partnership).

Requires that only licensed veterinarians or licensed employees may provide veterinary medical or surgical treatment, consultation, or advice at any practice.

Mandates veterinary practices suspend operations if a death of a licensed veterinarian prevents compliance with the Act, unless another licensed veterinarian assumes responsibility or the practice transfers to non-veterinarian ownership.

Authorizes licensed veterinarians and veterinary associations to bring private lawsuits to enjoin non-compliant practices and recover attorney's fees, court costs, and civil fines determined by the Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Preserves existing laws governing veterinarian-client relationships and liability, and maintains individual discipline authority over licensed veterinarians employed by subject practices.
