IL SB2240

Amends the Election Code to authorize the State Board of Elections to issue pollwatcher credentials, in addition to local election authorities that previously held this power exclusively.

Pollwatcher credentials must be issued by and bear the facsimile signature of either the election authority or the State Board of Elections, and must be available for distribution at least 2 weeks before an election.

The State Board of Elections may not require submission of pollwatcher names or information before making credentials available to authorized parties (political parties, candidates, civic organizations, and ballot proposition groups).

Permits representatives of the State Board of Elections to enter and remain in polling places at all times while performing official election duties, with display of official credentials or identification.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
