IL SB2318

Amends Section 1-2-11 of the Illinois Municipal Code regarding service of process and arrests by law enforcement officers.

Allows sheriffs to serve process and make arrests in municipalities located within their county for violations that municipal officers are authorized to enforce.

Permits police officers to serve summons for ordinance violations within their municipalities, with an expansion allowing both active duty and retired police officers to serve summons in municipalities with populations of 1,000,000 or more.

Authorizes housing authority police forces in counties with 3,000,000 or more residents to serve process for forcible entry and detainer actions and execute possession orders for their housing authorities.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
