IL SB2321

Amends Section 27-6 of the Illinois School Code regarding physical education requirements for students in public schools and teacher preparation programs.

Authorizes school boards to excuse students in grades 9-12 enrolled in show choir programs (for credit, taught by licensed teachers) from physical education courses if they request an exemption for ongoing participation in the show choir program.

Requires that show choir exemptions apply only one semester per school term and that the show choir program must emphasize dance-type movement with singing.

Maintains existing exemption provisions for interscholastic athletics, required academic classes, marching band, ROTC programs, and special education students.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
