• Amends Section 29-2 of the Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/29-2) concerning pupil transportation.

• Allows school boards to provide transportation for pupils living less than one and one-half miles from school as measured by the customary route of travel.

• Permits school boards to charge pupils for such transportation in an amount not exceeding the actual cost, including a reasonable allowance for vehicle depreciation.

• Makes a technical correction to the statutory language regarding the measurement standard for pupil distance from school.
