SB2382 Summary

• Prohibits grantees receiving more than $50,000 in annual aggregate state grant funds, along with their affiliated entities and persons, from making campaign contributions to political committees supporting executive branch constitutional officers or declared candidates for those offices.

• Extends the contribution prohibition for the duration of the incumbent officeholder's term or 2 years following grant expiration or termination, whichever is longer.

• Prohibits grantees with pending grant applications exceeding $50,000 from contributing to political committees of the officeholder awarding the grants during the application and award period.

• Voids all grant awards to entities that violate the prohibition, and bars violators from applying for state grant funds for 3 years after the third violation within a 36-month period.

• Requires political committees receiving prohibited contributions to repay the contribution amount to the state within 30 days of violation notice appearing in the Illinois Register.
