Beginning with the next registration year after the Secretary of State distributes newly designed standard registration plates, newly registered motor vehicles shall receive one registration plate instead of two.

The single registration plate shall be attached to the rear of the motor vehicle instead of front and rear placement.

References to "plates" in plural in Illinois law shall be deemed to refer to the single registration plate required under this amendment.

References to registration stickers and their attachment to rear plates remain in effect.

The act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
