• Employers are not required to pay temporary partial disability or maintenance benefits to employees discharged for cause.

• Prior to suspending benefits, employers must provide written notice to the discharged employee.

• The Illinois Workers' Compensation Commission may reinstate suspended benefits and restore retroactive payments if it finds the discharge was not for cause after holding a hearing.

• "Discharge for cause" is defined as a discharge resulting from the employee's voluntary violation of an employer rule or policy that was not caused by the employee's work-related disability.

• The Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
