IL SB2686

Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act to add protections when the Department of State Police fails to process renewal applications within 30 days.

Allows applicants who submit renewal applications with proof of payment (canceled check, receipt, or money order receipt) to have their card's expiration date extended until the Department approves or denies the renewal.

The extension lasts until the Department makes a decision or 180 days after the original expiration date, whichever occurs first.

Maintains the existing $10 renewal fee, with $6 deposited to the Wildlife and Fish Fund, $1 to the State Police Services Fund, and $3 to the State Police Firearm Services Fund.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
