IL SB2693

Amends the Cook County Forest Preserve District Act to increase the land acquisition threshold requiring voter approval from 75,000 acres to 90,000 acres.

District may not incur indebtedness for land acquisition exceeding 90,000 acres (including all previously acquired lands) without first obtaining voter certification and approval through an election.

Maintains existing requirements that propositions for indebtedness be certified to election officials and submitted to district voters for approval by majority vote.

Board must provide by ordinance for annual tax collection sufficient to pay bond interest and principal, with bonds divided into series maturing within 5 to 30 years.

Act takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
