IL SB2695

Amends Section 33-3 of the Criminal Code of 2012 regarding official misconduct by public officers, employees, and special government agents.

Adds new subsection (b) making it misconduct for law enforcement employees to knowingly use or communicate information acquired during employment with intent to obstruct, impede, or prevent investigation, apprehension, or prosecution of any criminal offense.

Exempts communications to confidential resources participating in or aiding ongoing law enforcement investigations from the misconduct provision.

Updates gender-neutral language throughout the statute by changing "he" to "he or she" in relevant sections.

Maintains existing penalties: conviction results in forfeiture of office or employment and constitutes a Class 3 felony.
