School districts must conduct a minimum of one annual meeting to review each school building's emergency and crisis response plans, protocols, and school safety drill programs at no cost to the district.

School boards or their designees must invite principals, representatives from education-related organizations, and representatives from local first responder organizations (fire departments, law enforcement, emergency medical services) to the annual review with a minimum of 30 days' notice.

Following the annual review, the school board must sign a one-page report summarizing recommended changes, listing participating parties, certifying an effective review occurred, and confirming implementation of plans during the academic year.

Copies of the certification report must be sent to all participating parties and the appropriate regional superintendent of schools, who shall maintain a record of any written comments from participants.

Private schools are now required to conduct similar annual meetings to review emergency and crisis response plans and school safety drill programs at no cost, with invitations extended to local first responder organizations.
