IL SB2744

Establishes the Illinois National Guard State-Sponsored Life Insurance Program as authorized under federal law (37 U.S.C. 707 and DoD Directive 5500.07-R).

Designates the National Guard Association of Illinois as the provider of state-sponsored life insurance products through the Militia Insurance Trust for military members and dependents of the Illinois National Guard.

Authorizes Illinois National Guard members to make payroll allotments for life insurance premiums using the U.S. Defense Finance and Accounting Service military pay allotment procedures.

Designates the Department of Military Affairs and the Adjutant General as the official departmental sponsor to facilitate and coordinate the program and coordinate allotments with the United States Property and Fiscal Office.

Takes effect upon becoming law.
