IL SB2783

Amends Section 4.3 of the Circuit Courts Act to exclude actions arising under Article II of the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 from the standard witness fee provisions in subsection (a).

Modifies subsection (b) to include actions arising under Article II of the Juvenile Court Act of 1987 alongside criminal cases, making witnesses in such actions eligible for per diem and mileage fees when required to attend from a foreign county or state.

Witness fees remain $20 per day of attendance and $0.20 per mile for travel, paid from the county treasury where the crime was committed or the juvenile court action was filed.

Requires witnesses to provide affidavits documenting distance traveled, the route taken, days of actual attendance, and that attendance was requested by the State's Attorney or the accused/attorney (or in juvenile cases, by any party's attorney).

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
