IL SB2828

Amends Section 10-1-18.2 of the Illinois Municipal Code concerning home rule preemption and police officer misconduct charges.

Prohibits municipalities, including home rule units, from regulating the period of time or establishing statutes of limitations for charges of unreasonable force against police officers brought before a Police Board, Civil Service Commission, or similar body.

Establishes that state-level statutes of limitations in Sections 10-1-18 and 10-1-18.1 are the exclusive exercise of state power regarding police misconduct charges based on unreasonable force allegations.

Makes a technical correction to remove duplicative language ("the") in the statutory text.
