SB2992 Summary

• Amends the Personnel Code to add positions within the Department of Juvenile Justice requiring licensure by the State Board of Education under Article 21B of the School Code to the list of positions exempt from civil service jurisdiction B requirements.

• Allows these Department of Juvenile Justice positions to be filled without meeting certain civil service examination and qualification requirements while still maintaining merit-based selection through veteran's preference and qualified application scoring.

• Establishes that this exemption applies only to the extent that requirements of Sections 8b.1, 8b.3, and 8b.5 of the Personnel Code need not be met.
