IL SB3049

Amends the Illinois Wildlife Code to add gray wolf, American black bear, and cougar to the list of protected wildlife species in the state.

Allows landowners or tenants to immediately take (kill) a gray wolf, American black bear, or cougar on their property without a permit if the animal is stalking, causing an imminent threat, or poses a reasonable expectation of physical harm or death to humans, livestock, domestic animals, or property.

Authorizes the Department to issue nuisance permits for taking gray wolf, American black bear, or cougar that pose a threat to property or people that does not meet the imminent threat standard.

Requires the Department to adopt rules to implement the new nuisance permit provisions.
