SB3275 Summary

• Amends the Illinois Controlled Substances Act by updating Schedule I listings to include additional opiates, opium derivatives, and hallucinogenic substances.

• Adds specific fentanyl analogs to Schedule I, including acetyl-alpha-methylfentanyl, alpha-methylthiofentanyl, beta-hydroxyfentanyl, 3-methylfentanyl, 3-methylthiofentanyl, para-fluorofentanyl, thiofentanyl, and beta-hydroxy-3-methylfentanyl.

• Expands hallucinogenic drug listings to include synthetic cannabinoids (JWH compounds), NBOMe compounds (25I-NBOMe, 25C-NBOMe, 25B-NBOMe), synthetic cathinones (methylone, MDPV, mephedrone), and Salvia divinorum.

• Includes temporary emergency scheduling provisions for benzylfentanyl and thenylfentanyl with their respective isomers and salts.

• Effective date: January 1, 2010 with subsequent amendments through July 31, 2012.
