Requires School Bus Safety Inspectors to meet one of three training requirements: ASE Master School Bus Technician certification, minimum 2 years of journeyman-level mechanical experience in motor vehicle repair and maintenance, or completion of a 2-year accredited vehicle maintenance and repair course.

School Bus Safety Inspectors must successfully complete a written and hands-on test administered by the Department of Transportation or its designee to become certified.

School Bus Safety Inspectors must attend a minimum 2-day school bus inspection training program conducted by a certified trainer at least once per year and provide proof of attendance to the Department to maintain certification.

School Bus Safety Inspector certification is valid for 5 years from the certification date, with mandatory recertification required every 5 years thereafter.
