SB3379 Summary

• Amends the Illinois Youthbuild Act to authorize five state departments to make grants for Youthbuild programs: Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Department of Corrections, Department of Transportation, and Department of Human Services.

• Replaces references to the Secretary of Human Services with "each Department" throughout the Act, enabling multiple departments to independently develop applications and administer Youthbuild grant programs.

• Requires all departments to jointly prepare an annual report to the General Assembly detailing program participants, costs per participant, high school diploma attainment rates, and projects completed.

• Maintains existing program requirements including education and job skills training, leadership development, counseling services, housing rehabilitation or construction activities, and stipends at minimum wage for participants.

• Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
