SB3414 Summary

• Replaces terminology throughout Illinois law from "EMT-B," "EMT-P," and "First Responder" designations with "EMT," "Paramedic," "A-EMT," and "Emergency Medical Responder" to align with National EMS Education Standards.

• Updates the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Systems Act to recognize new license levels including Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate (EMT-I), Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (A-EMT), and Paramedic designations.

• Changes terminology in multiple acts from "certified" to "licensed" for all EMS personnel and related professionals including paramedics, EMTs, Trauma Nurse Specialists, and Pre-Hospital Registered Nurses.

• Repeals Section 3.60 of the EMS Systems Act and transitions existing First Responder licenses to Emergency Medical Responder licenses upon expiration.

• Applies updated EMS personnel designations and licensing terminology consistently across firefighter hiring, workers' compensation, occupational disease provisions, vehicle code testing procedures, and public health statutes.
