IL SB3417

Deletes the prohibition on new nuclear power plant construction in Illinois that required federal approval of high-level nuclear waste disposal technology or specific General Assembly authorization.

Removes the definition of "high level nuclear waste" from the Public Utilities Act Section 8-406.

Allows the Illinois Commerce Commission to issue certificates of public convenience and necessity for nuclear power plant construction under the same standards as other utility construction projects.

Takes effect immediately upon enactment.
