IL SB3471

Amends the Illinois Highway Code to allow township and district roads to be permanently posted at reduced weight limits, in addition to being closed or vacated, through formal procedures requiring highway commissioner or county superintendent approval.

Requires highway commissioners to follow Division 3 of Article 6 of the Illinois Highway Code when permanently posting roads at reduced weight limits, establishing formal hearing and notification requirements similar to road vacation procedures.

Modifies the Illinois Vehicle Code to clarify that road districts are exempt from local authority restrictions on truck operation, and that highway commissioners can only permanently post reduced weight limits in accordance with the Illinois Highway Code procedures.

Adds the "permanent posting at reduced weight limit" option throughout all relevant sections governing road alterations, vacations, and proceedings, including damage assessments, public hearings, and appeals to county superintendents.

Effective upon becoming law.
