IL SB3509

Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code to prohibit requiring bond for petty offense traffic violations (excluding certain offenses like Section 15-111 or subsection (d) of Section 3-401).

Allows violators of petty offense traffic violations to satisfy cases through written guilty plea and payment of fines equal to the bail amount, without court appearance if permitted by Supreme Court Rule.

Requires courts to continue cases for a minimum of 30 days when defendants fail to appear and notify the Secretary of State using a prescribed report format.

Prohibits the Supreme Court's uniform bail schedule from requiring bond for petty offense traffic violations under the Illinois Vehicle Code or similar local ordinances.

Takes effect January 1, 2015.
