IL SB3575

Prohibits clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, licensed social workers, marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, and clinical professional counselors from engaging in sexual orientation change efforts with patients under 18 years of age.

Defines "sexual orientation change efforts" as practices seeking to change a person's sexual orientation, including efforts to change behaviors, gender identity, gender expressions, or to eliminate sexual or romantic attractions to same-gender persons.

Establishes that any sexual orientation change efforts attempted on patients younger than 18 years of age constitutes unprofessional conduct and grounds for disciplinary action under each respective licensing act.

Exempts from the prohibition counseling for gender transition, counseling providing acceptance and support without seeking to change sexual orientation, and counseling addressing coping, identity exploration, and sexual orientation-neutral interventions for unsafe practices.
