School boards must equip each school building with approved carbon monoxide alarms in accordance with State Fire Marshal rules.

State Fire Marshal shall determine by rule the number of alarms required, their locations, and ensure they remain in operating condition with annual inspections.

State Fire Marshal may exempt school buildings from the alarm requirement if they lack carbon monoxide sources or are not located near any.

Defines "approved carbon monoxide alarm" and "alarm" according to the Carbon Monoxide Alarm Detector Act.

Takes effect immediately upon becoming law.
