Designates May 15, 2013 as Alpha Kappa Alpha Day in Illinois to honor Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and its work.

Recognizes the sorority's 105-year history since its founding at Howard University in 1908, with the mission of "Service to All Mankind."

Notes prominent members including Eleanor Roosevelt, Coretta Scott King, Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, Alicia Keys, and congresswomen Eddie Bernice Johnson and Sheila Jackson Lee.

Highlights the sorority's Emerging Young Leaders (EYL) signature program, which will impact 10,000 girls in grades 6-8 across 90 chapters in the Central Region through leadership development and civic engagement.

Young women from Illinois EYL programs will participate in a day at the Capitol on May 15, 2013.
