1.93 million Illinois residents, including 685,000 children, experience food insecurity and lack access to adequate nutritious food.

Urges Congress to develop the 2013 Farm Bill with strong Title IV protections and strengthening of federal food and nutrition programs including SNAP, WIC, TEFAP, and CSFP.

Opposes any funding cuts to the federal food and nutrition safety net through the annual federal budget process or other measures.

Rejects state policy changes that would limit access to or add burdens on families accessing federal food and nutrition programs.

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to Illinois congressional delegation, the President of the United States, and the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.
