Senate Resolution proclaiming intellectual superiority of the Illinois Senate and challenging the House of Representatives to a chess tournament.

Senate shall host the chess tournament, with results to affirm claims that the Senate is the most mentally astute chamber of the 98th General Assembly.

Chess tournament shall promote educational benefits of chess and encourage Illinois schools and community centers to implement chess programs focused on problem-solving, critical thinking, spatial awareness, and goal setting.

Resolution acknowledges chess as a recognized Olympic sport sanctioned by the World Chess Federation and the Illinois High School Association.

National Chess Day designated as October 12, 2013, with reference to Congressional designation of St. Louis, Missouri as the National Chess Capital of the United States.
