Designates April 2, 2014 as World Autism Awareness Day in the State of Illinois

Recognizes that Autism Spectrum Disorders affect more than 30,000 school-age children in Illinois, with prevalence increasing from 1 in 150 to 1 in 88 according to the Centers for Disease Control

Acknowledges The Autism Program of Illinois (TAP), created by Public Act 93-395 in 2003, as the largest statewide autism resource and service network in the nation

Notes that TAP has provided direct services to more than 7,000 Illinois families and trained more than 61,000 family members, educators, healthcare providers, and first responders through partnerships with universities and nonprofit organizations across the state

Congratulates TAP members and partners for their service and pledges continued support to Illinois families affected by autism
