Urges Congress to dedicate additional National Science Foundation funds to antibiotic resistance research and maximize efforts in addressing the issue and developing solutions

Acknowledges World Health Organization findings that antibiotic resistance is an immediate global threat affecting all regions and has potential to impact anyone at any age

Warns that without significant action to prevent infections and change antibiotic production, prescription, and use practices, a post-antibiotic era could result where common infections and minor injuries become fatal

Identifies policy solutions including strengthening resistance tracking and laboratory capacity, regulating appropriate medicine use, fostering innovation and research, and promoting cooperation among stakeholders

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to Senators Richard J. Durbin and Mark Kirk and the entire Illinois Congressional Delegation
