Kenneth K. Hamsher of Fox Lake died on June 22, 2014, at age 91, having been born October 22, 1922 in Flint, Michigan.

Hamsher was a United States Army veteran of World War II and owned and operated the K.K. Hamsher Funeral Home from 1953 until his death, providing emergency ambulance service to Fox Lake and surrounding communities.

He served as a charter member of the Johnsburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and held positions including trustee for the Village of Fox Lake, Mayor of Fox Lake, and one term on the Grant High School Board.

Hamsher was active in community organizations including St. Bede Catholic Church, Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 703, Fox Lake Lions Club, and sponsored the Blind Bowlers Association and Grant Township Little League.

The Illinois Senate expresses condolences to his surviving children (Deborah, Sharon, and Kirk), grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
