Senate Resolution honoring Horace G. Livingston, Jr. of Decatur, who died on June 19, 2014.

Livingston was born November 10, 1921, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and worked as publisher and editor of "The Voice Newspaper" covering Bloomington, Decatur, and Springfield for 40 years.

Recognized as a civil rights activist and community leader who also worked as a service station owner, music promoter, radio host, brick layer, and construction worker, including helping build St. Mary's Hospital.

Received numerous awards and recognitions including the 2007 Stephen Decatur Medallion from the City of Decatur and honors from organizations including the NAACP, Crime Stoppers, United Way, and Lakeview Elks Lodge 1132.

Survived by eight children, one brother, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; was a long-time member and trustee of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Decatur.
