Robert Avery Weaver of Peoria died on July 4, 2014; he was born August 25, 1923 in Fisher to parents Avery and Lena Weaver.

Started farming at age 12 and in 1948 purchased what became Weaver Angus Farm; in 1964 partnered with Colonel Harlan Sanders on Kentucky Fried Chicken franchises that formed the nucleus of Weaver Enterprises.

Owned one of the premier Black Angus cattle herds in the country and exhibited pleasure driving horses at competitions throughout the United States, Canada, and England.

Served on numerous charitable boards including as founder of Youth Farm, emeritus member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board, president of the Illinois Angus Association, and member of the Board of Governors of the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto.

Received the William Booth Award, Pioneer Angus Breeder Award, was inducted into the American Angus Association Heritage Hall of Fame and Junior Achievement Hall of Fame, and was jointly honored with his wife as Association of Fundraising Professionals Philanthropists of the Year.
