Illinois Senate mourns the death of Pearline Ruby (nee Jones) Cunigan and extends condolences to her family and friends.

Pearline Cunigan was born August 5, 1921 in Memphis, Tennessee and moved to Chicago at age 8; she graduated from Wendell Phillips Academy High School in 1939 and attended multiple colleges.

She worked 30 years for Maremont Automotives as treasurer of its credit union and union representative, later worked for the Veterans Administration, and served as administrative assistant to Illinois State Senator Margaret Smith.

Pearline was a charter member of Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church starting in August 1967, serving as first financial secretary, Sunday school teacher, and supervisor of the Children's Church Work Department while directing hundreds of children's programs.

She is survived by her brother Leroy Jones, Jr., multiple nieces and nephews including Linda Mitchell, and her church family at Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church.
